Metabolic

liver in hands

Metabolic liver disease encompasses a variety of disorders that impair the liver's ability to process nutrients, leading to the accumulation of harmful substances in the body. These conditions, which can be either inherited or acquired, may result in liver damage, reduced liver function, or even liver failure.

Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease - MASLD

This is a liver problem that affects people who drink little to no alcohol. In MASLD, too much fat builds up in the liver. It is seen most often in people who are overweight or obese.

Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis - MASH

This is the most severe form of MASLD, a condition in which the liver builds up excessive fat deposits.
