Hepatopulmonary syndrome is caused by blood vessels in the lungs expanding, also called dilating, and increasing in number. This condition affects the lungs of people who have advanced liver disease. The purpose of this study is to learn about the progression of hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) throughout treatment and post liver transplant. to participate in this study, individuals must meet the following criteria:

The study does require collecting samples from the participants. In the initial collection, you will be asked to give a 20 mL of blood, 5 mL of saliva, 20 mL of urine, and 10 g of feces. After the initial collection, participants will be asked to repeat the sample collection every 1 year until they can receive a liver transplant. Once a participant receives a transplant, they will be asked to repeat the sample collection every 6 months for 2 years post-transplant.
